Tim Kennedy has signed a one-year deal with the Phoenix Coyotes.
Kennedy, 27, began his professional career with the Portland Pirates during their affiliation with the Buffalo Sabres, and it is likely he will suit up for the Pirates again, as their current affiliation is with the Coyotes.
Not an NHL mainstay since 2009-10, Kennedy has spent the majority of his time over the last five seasons in the AHL with stints in Worcester, San Antonio, Connecticut, Rochester, and Portland. Through 230 games in the AHL, Kennedy has scored 56 goals and added 137 assists.
Drafted by the Capitals in 2005, Kennedy never suited up with the Caps. Before he could sign with the team, his rights were sent to the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for a sixth round pick, which would become Mathieu Perreault.
The terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
